Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Toddler Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and a commitment to fostering their growth and development in a warm, caring, and natural environment. As a Toddler Teacher, you will provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing atmosphere where children can explore, learn, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Childcare & Education: Create and implement developmentally appropriate activities that encourage social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
Montessori Environment: Support the Montessori philosophy by guiding children in independent, hands-on learning experiences, with a focus on practical life skills and exploration of nature.
Supervision: Ensure a safe and secure environment for all children, maintaining appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
Observation & Documentation: Observe and document children's progress, behavior, and milestones to inform curriculum planning and share updates with parents.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to maintain a cohesive and supportive classroom environment.
Parent Communication: Build positive relationships with families through regular updates, conferences, and open communication.
Outdoor Engagement: Facilitate daily outdoor activities, embracing The Willow School’s nature-based approach to learning.
Qualifications:
A love for working with toddlers and a deep understanding of early childhood development.
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
AMS (American Montessori Society) Toddler or Primary Credential preferred.
Experience in a preschool or childcare setting, preferably with toddlers.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn the Montessori approach to education.
Ability to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Early Childhood Education (ECE) training or willingness to pursue professional development in this area.
Physical Demands:
Ability to engage in active play and outdoor exploration in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks associated with caring for young children, such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Schedule:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Typical hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with additional time for planning, team meetings, and professional development as needed.
